When we started designing our new home, the kitchen was the most important space for us to get just right. With a large family, we needed a kitchen that wasn’t just functional but also a place where we could all be together. Cooking is one of my favorite things—it’s how I serve my family and show them love—so creating a space that felt warm, inviting, and practical was at the top of our list.

Designing for Togetherness

We knew that the back of our home would be the place where our family naturally gathered, so it made sense to place the kitchen there. We added large windows to bring in natural light and allow us to look out while we cook, eat, and spend time together. Whether it’s watching the kids play in the backyard, seeing the occasional deer roam through the trees or just enjoying a quiet morning with coffee, the connection between our kitchen and the outdoors makes the space feel even more open and welcoming.

The Design Details

We wanted a bright, neutral kitchen with a mix of warmth and texture, so we combined natural white oak cabinets with painted cabinets in Sherwin-Williams Snowbound—a soft, warm white that keeps everything feeling fresh and timeless. Our Calacatta Vintage Quartz countertops bring a classic yet durable surface, perfect for everything from meal prep to late-night baking sessions.

To complete the look, we chose ADM Flooring engineered hardwoods in Vincenza, a beautiful neutral wood tone that flows seamlessly throughout our home. One of our favorite features is the vaulted ceiling, finished with shiplap and a white oak faux beam. It adds so much character and makes the space feel even more open.

This kitchen isn’t just where we cook—it’s where we gather. It’s where birthday cakes are baked, where messy pancake breakfasts happen on Saturday mornings, and where we sit together after long days. It’s truly the heart of our home, and we’ve already made so many memories here.
